The Royal Oak pub is located in the small village of Gretton, just to the west of the Cotswolds. The pub building is over 200 years old with various uses over the years, including two separate cottages before becoming an Inn.
At the back of the pub is a large open space which was the perfect setting for a new play area. The brief from Mark, the pub owner, was very clear - it had to be in keeping with its environment and sit naturally within the stunning views and scenic background. The pub is very popular with families, so the play area needed to keep children entertained, so we made sure they could climb, swing and slide with friends.
We always start the same way, and that's listening to you. Tell us what you like and what you don’t, what your new play area needs to include and what your objectives are. We’ll talk and listen, and when we’ve got everything we need we’ll create a brief and start designing.
Safari is our newest collection, a nod to nature with its ‘wibbly-wobbly’ aesthetic. We’ve taken away a lot of the straight lines and replaced them with curves, this is exactly the look Mark wanted. We designed three towers connected with rope bridges, added in a slide and cargo net, and introduced ‘Safari’ stilts. We also added in the playground favourite, double swing bay, with a nest swing, flat and toddler swing.
