Playgrounds and play area's for your EYFS school.

An EYFS playground is often the first stepping stone of a child's educational journey; a place where they can begin to learn about themselves and the world around them. Our playgrounds are designed to put the priorities of your school into motion so through play they can develop the physical, social and cognitive skills that will prepare them for their school careers.

How to:

create your EYFS playground

Where do I start?

You’re an EYFS teacher or maybe part of the PTA and you’ve been given the task of creating your nursery’s play area (whether it’s a new one or upgrading an existing space). But, where to begin? You may have done this before, or maybe it’s your first time, either way, we’re here to help.  Before we get into the details of the playground, tell us about your nursery and the children. Talk to us about what you’d like to achieve, the benefits you’d like to see for the children and any challenges you may be facing.

It’s important to us to firstly just listen and understand all your requirements, by doing this we can design a play area best suited for your nursery or pre school. Then, we’ll start to delve deeper into your project, go more into the details, and make sure we support you in the children’s development.

What do we need to know?

Before we get to designing, we’ll discuss all the specifics.

The more we talk, the better we can transform your space through understanding the project.

We’ll go into the detail, which includes:

  • Space and location
  • Safety and security
  • Age and ability of the children - (0-5 & level of development)
  • Must haves, wants and wishes
  • Bringing your school and ethos into the design, making it just for you
  • Your time frames, when works for you and when doesn’t
  • Budgets and funding - don’t worry if you haven’t got this in place just yet, we can help with this (we’ve got some really useful information on our funding page)

By now, we’ll have a clear understanding of all your requirements which means we can put together the detailed brief. This is a short summary of all the specifics we have spoken about and is there to make sure we both understand each other. Once we’ve all agreed, time for the design!

What will our play area look like?

Using the brief, we’ll bring our conversations to life and share the designs with you.  It’s very much collaborative at this point, reviewing the design and getting your feedback.  This is also a great opportunity to share with other teachers, parents, PTA members and the children to get their thoughts (no doubt at this point you’ll have some very excited children).

Next, your whole school is happy and you’ve signed off the design, budget is in place and you’ve received really positive feedback, great! The next step is to confirm the install day with you. We’ll always work around you, so let us know when’s good and when isn’t. In or out of term-time.

How do you build/install your play equipment?

It's time for us to get to work and that begins at our workshop. The majority of the build is done before we even get to you (this means we can minimise the disruption on the day).

We really hope you can’t wait for the big day to arrive as much as we can, pop the date in your diary and let the countdown begin!

We’ll start off by placing each part of the playground in situ, this way you’ll be able to picture the size and scope of the build. One final check and we’ll start installing (apologies if some of the kids get distracted and start looking out of the window, that happens a lot!).

And just like that, we’re done!  Kids…over to you!

What about wear, tear, and maintenance?

Now the play area is finally ready, and kids are using and abusing it, this is where your need for lasting quality and sturdiness has proven to be a great decision.

To make sure they’ve got as many years of play & enjoyment ahead as possible, thanks to the unrivalled quality of our tradesmen and timber, your new play area benefits from a 12-month guarantee against all workmanship defects and a 20-year guarantee against timber failure. This means a complete piece of mind and knowledge that’ll last for years to come.

However, we’re no dreamers, and as much as it pains us to say it, sometimes, no matter how infrequently, things do go wrong - we know a problem shared is a problem halved - that's why we want you to let us know as soon as possible to make sure we’re there to help resolve the issue. We can provide advice, and resources, or if you’d prefer us to maintain your playground, that’s no problem, we offer maintenance packages to suit your needs.

These are all the things you’d expect when choosing Home Front, we think these should go without saying, but if you’d like to learn more about why we are so trusted and respected in our industry then look no further. But don't just take our word for it - see what are customers have to say as well - check out our reviews & testimonials.
