Cameron House hotel is a 5-star resort and hotel on the banks of Loch Lomond in Scotland, it’s a 17th-century Baronial mansion sat in 400 acres of countryside close to the gateway to the Scottish Highlands.
Nestled within the stunning landscape of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, the play area was designed to blend seamlessly with the hotel’s surroundings. The hotel wanted a space where guests of all ages could enjoy themselves, giving children an inviting place to play and families a chance to create memories.
Working together, we designed a play area which had the wow factor, that would spark creativity in children's imagination and a place for children to have fun with friends and family.
We crafted a fort using our clubhouses as towers, complete with an archway entrance for imaginative adventures. Children can climb to the top of the towers, keeping watch as they defend their castle and protect the king and queen. Accessing the towers is made fun and easy with accessories like the gangplank, cargo net and slide. A bridge spanning the fence—an essential point to defend—adds an exciting alternative way into the fort. To ensure the space remains safe and accessible year-round, we included rubber bonded mulch as the play surface.
To complete the play area, we included a double swing bay just outside the fort, catering to both older children and toddlers. This swing bay features two seat types: flat seats for older children and bucket-style seats designed to keep toddlers safe and secure while they play. Positioned close to the fort, the swings provide even more fun, allowing children of different ages to enjoy the play area together. The swings are in a perfect spot for parents to enjoy time with their children or simply watch as they laugh and swing to their hearts' content.
The charm of our climbing frames and play areas lies in the use of natural timber. We craft them from American Southern Yellow Pine sourced from FSC certified forests. One of timber's greatest advantages is its natural aesthetic, which sits beautifully with its surroundings. Its rich yellow patina brings a vibrant freshness to the area, gradually maturing to a stunning silvery grey over time—allowing it to blend seamlessly into the hotel's wooded landscape.
