Why have a play area?

  • Attract new customers - Parents and families will often look for family friendly pubs with a garden and play area to keep children entertained.
  • Encourage longer stays - If the kids are happy then so are the parents, which means they’ll spend more time with you where they can unwind, and enjoy the food and drink.
  • Keep coming back - It’s a reason for families to return and enjoy your hospitality.
  • Sets you apart - If you’re the only pub with a play area in the local community, this is giving you competitive advantage... Broaden your customer base, get your customers to tell their friends (give them a reason to return)
  • Heart of the community - A local pub quite often sits at the heart of the community, which means your pub could be a venue for more than just food and drink.

Things to think about ...

What would your customers like?  Ask families and children, after all it’ll be them using it.  Do they want towers to climb, become captain of their own ship, or maybe be king or queen of the castle. Add in swing sets, play trails and activity panels to make your pub a place to go back to time after time.   Don't forget to cater for children of all ages and abilities.

Think about aesthetically how you’d like your new play area to look in the garden.  Wooden climbing frames offer a perfect mix of nature and play, whilst blending naturally into its background.

Keep it maintained.  Children will want to climb, swing and slide on the play area as much as possible (all year round if they could).  So keep it clear of fallen leaves and twigs and give it a jet wash to keep it clean - this also increases the life of your play area.

Make it work for you.  Our climbing frames and towers are modular by design, which means you can simply add new accessories to it over time, whether that's a new swing or slide, a tower and bridge, or a rock wall or activity panel.

Think about the positioning of the set in your pub garden.  Close to seating areas so parents can keep an eye on their children, but don’t forget about your customers who haven’t brought their children, they may want a quiet drink with friends.
